About European Innovation Council
Established under the Horizon Europe programme with a budget of €10.1 billion, the EIC manages funding through three primary schemes: EIC Pathfinder for early-stage research, EIC Transition for proof of concept and technology transfer, and the EIC Accelerator for the financing and scale-up of startups and SMEs. The organisation provides a mix of grants and direct equity or quasi-equity investments, the latter of which are managed by the EIC Fund. Strategy is guided by the EIC Board, while EIC Programme Managers oversee specific portfolios to steer innovation breakthroughs in various technology fields. Participants also gain access to business acceleration services, coaching, and expert mentoring.
