About Pergola

Pergola is a platform for deploying and running server applications in the cloud, without any server or cluster setup. It can run anything that can be containerized, from simple websites to multi-service landscapes and AI workflows, with no lock-in or special code changes required. It solves the classic DevOps burden: as an end-to-end self-service platform, it lets developers turn ideas into products without losing time on infrastructure: no server or cluster administration, and no more worrying about patching, firewalls, scalability, or availability. Typical user: a software developer or small team looking for an easy-to-use, reliable, secure, and cost-efficient way to publish and run applications on the internet, as well as data teams in specialist departments who want to do MLOps or publish dashboards and web services in self-service, without needing the expertise of an IT department. Deployment requires only three things: a Git repository with the application code, a Project Manifest (pergola.yaml) describing the full stack, and Dockerfiles or pre-built container images. Pergola then handles builds, releases, stages, configuration, monitoring, and cost control end to end. Key differentiators include being: • genuinely non-intrusive (your code remains agnostic and can run anywhere, with all configuration living on the platform), • built-in security (access control with SSO, enforced MFA, and fine-grained role-based rules, with all communication encrypted), • and an emerging "Agentic DevOps" story with ready-to-use agent skills that let AI assistants generate Dockerfiles and manifests and manage your project on Pergola for you. On deployment flexibility and data residency, Pergola runs applications on a managed high-availability cluster (Kubernetes under the hood), and supports multi-cloud, on-prem, and multi-architecture environments. The enterprise offering lets you run Pergola in your own private cloud or on-premise infrastructure (via "Outposts"), and planned regional expansion to local cloud providers will let you choose where applications run for compliance with regional legal and regulatory requirements. Compared to non-European PaaS alternatives like Heroku, Render, or Fly.io, Pergola's European origin and its on-prem/private-cloud option matter for regulated EU customers, since US-owned providers remain within reach of the US CLOUD Act regardless of where data is physically stored: a distinction that has become the difference between passing and failing audits in healthcare, banking, and government.
