Trout Software builds Access Gate, a European Zero-Trust appliance for industrial networks. The problem: Factories, utilities and hospitals run equipment that cannot be secured like IT. A PLC, an HMI or a twenty-year-old pump controller cannot run an agent and cannot do MFA. Yet NIS2 now holds operators accountable for segmentation, access control and audit evidence on exactly those assets. Who it is for: Water utilities, energy and grid operators, manufacturers, defence suppliers and any industrial site facing NIS2 without a dedicated OT security team. How it works: Access Gate is a plug-and-play appliance. You install it next to the network and get instant visibility of every asset, then enforce policy over about three weeks. No agents on the equipment, no rewiring, no downtime. It covers four things in one view: who connects (identity, certificates, IP and MAC), what they can reach (enclave policy on ports and protocols), how they reach it (hardened proxy, time-limited access, session recording) and what was done (tamper-evident logs mapped to NIS2 requirements). Sovereignty: Access Gate runs on-premise, on your site. Traffic, logs and identity data stay inside your perimeter. There is no foreign cloud control plane and no CLOUD Act exposure. Trout Software is a French SAS, with entities in Ireland and the United States, founded by Florian Doumenc and Romain Doumenc. Compared to US alternatives: American Zero-Trust platforms are cloud-first. They need agents on endpoints and route authentication through infrastructure outside European jurisdiction. That does not work for a substation or a treatment plant, technically or legally.
