About UpSensei
UpSensei — posture coaching: webcam-based, but privacy-focused. THE PROBLEM Knowledge workers spend six to nine hours a day at a screen, and the postures that accumulate over those hours are invisible to the person holding them. Catching them means letting something watch you all day. Most tools promise to upload nothing; what a careful user lacks is an easy way to tell. UpSensei is built for the browser, so that promise is easily checkable using integrated developer tools rather than contractual. IDEAL CUSTOMER Today: individual knowledge workers at a screen for long stretches — developers, analysts, researchers, students — who care where their data goes. It is a perfect fit for employee benefits and corporate wellness (BGM). A webcam pointed at employees is where a works council refuses anything that uploads images, so that path is architected for, not retrofitted. FEATURES AND DIFFERENTIATORS Sixteen posture checks — forward head, head tilted down or turned, uneven or raised shoulders, leaning forward or back, lateral collapse, held motionless too long. The pose model runs in your browser: no image or video frame is ever recorded or transmitted. Nothing to install. Every check has a threshold slider and a snooze; past sessions replay against other thresholds. Voice coaching via on-device speech; Teams and Nextcloud integration silences alerts during calls. DEPLOYMENT AND DATA RESIDENCY EU infrastructure end to end. Application and PostgreSQL run on Scaleway — a French company with EU-only data centres — in Amsterdam. Authentication runs through Hanko, a German provider; our server stores only an opaque identifier, never a name or email. Payments go through Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ, Estonia) as merchant of record, so no payment data touches our systems. No US CDN in the runtime path. Guests send no posture data at all; free accounts store settings only; paid accounts can opt in to an optional Cloud mode that sends abstract coordinates, never images or video, kept 90 days. COMPARED TO NON-EUROPEAN ALTERNATIVES On-device processing is advertised across this category, so the claim alone separates nobody — what matters is what sits beside it in the privacy policy, and whether a user can confirm any of it without taking a vendor's word. UpSensei is built to be checked. Guest mode uploads no posture data — a single licence call at session start, and nothing after it. Our trust page hands users the checks — watch the Network tab during sign-in, look up our IP in the RIPE registry — and names the points where you are trusting us rather than verifying. US companies never appear near posture data: AWS under Hanko's sign-in, and Microsoft's API if you connect Teams. Google and Microsoft are optional login methods. Operated by a registered German sole trader, independently owned and self-funded — no outside capital, no non-EU investors. UpSensei is a wellness tool, not a medical device.
